Check 'em Out.

May 15, 2008 / by jumpthefear

(Thought I would post something about music for change to get my mind off of things that have been bothering me lately.)

Ever wish that you could take two of your favorite things and slam them together to make an amazing specimen that pleases you?

Well for metal and horror fans that dream is now a reality. Ever heard of the band Lordi? If not, please take a minut to feel foolish.

Lordi is a heavy metal/ power metal/ hard rock & shock rock from Finland that's been around since 1996 and when they say they'll rock the hell outta you, they mean it.

The band is made up of Mr Lordi (vocals), Amen (lead guitar), Kita (drums), OX (bass), Awa (keyboard). Awa is also the only girl in the group. Give it up for metal maidens!

All the band members go on stage in full body costumes, all based off the horror genre. None of them have ever been photographed or interviwed out of costume and work hard to keep it that way. People have the misconception that Lordi is some sort of satanic cult. Phft. Get your heads out of your butts. They are not and have said so many times.

Thier music is the good head banging stuff and all of the songs have a rather horror-esque under current that certainly adds to the atmosphere. The vocals are rough and purely metal driven, melodic but haunting.

I recomend watching some of thier music videos and if you have the chance to get your hands on thier short film 'The Kin' I would tell you to jump at the chance to watch it.
